For the Sake of the Cause

Sunday marked the big game between the Cowboys and the Vikings. This meant the Weitzel family team (our friends) vs. the Kern family team. We had the chips and salsa, the team garb and an open afternoon. For the Kern's it was a treat just to get to view the Vikings--as usually we do not get to watch their games. Cincinnati Bengals fan Karly, decided to support her Daddy's team and created her own Minnesota franchise merchandise--a headband with a M and a V (Minnesota Vikings). While we knew our Vikings would likely fall to the talents of the Cowboys--it was an entertaining game at least during the first three quarters. I just got a kick out of Karly's instinct to create her own support for the Vikings cause!

Post game, Karly and Kyle (along with some neighborhood friends) decided to do something for a more valid cause. They cut up cheese sticks in small chunks and placed them on toothpicks and also baked cupcakes and decorated them with frosting to create a "Bake Sale". Their "Bake Sale" goal was to donate money to the Placer County SPCA. They paraded about the neighborhood selling their goods and raised $12! Very cute and totally their own original idea. I love it when they get creative and think beyond themselves. Sure they scored a cupcake or two, but they were also proud to help their four legged freinds!
