With huge grins the Kern kids stepped back onto campus today excited about their new school year. Kyle had a hard time sleeping last night. He woke up with a bad dream, but then told me he thought today would be one of the best days ever (all this at 1:30 in the morning). For Karly the night before back to school was all about her accessories--she had to gather her supplies, everything from binders and erasers to baby wipes and Kleenex. She piled it all in with excitement as if it were a secret treasure.
Both kids have fabulous teachers we know well, and a great group of kids, even close friends, in their classes. We are so pleased and looking forward to a great year in 2nd and 3rd grades. It was a little melancholy for Mommy--taking Karly to the "big kid playground" was a bit sobering. They are growing up. Just when I thought I'd get teary, the PTC duties called and I was off to meeting parents and starting projects.
I can't wait to hear how their days went and see what the year has in store. I'm feeling excited right along with them as I know they are in a great learning environment and they will grow in their skills by leaps and bounds this year.
